7aum Arivu Kollywood Movie Review
Story:A tale of past and present, the story begins with Boddhidharma (suriya), a Pallava king in the 16th century. He is master of martial arts and all other forms of spirituality and science. He goes to China for a purpose and spends years. Eventually, he also gives away his life and gets buried there. The story comes to the present and in Chennai lives Aravind (suriya) who works with a circus company. He comes across Shuba (shruti) and falls in love with her. Shuba gets close to Aravind but she does that for a purpose. Meanwhile, a man called Dong Lee (johnny) comes from China and his purpose is to locate Shuba and kill her. How all of them are related to each other and what has Boddhidharma got to do with it forms the rest of the story.

Presentation: The director has come up with a thought provoking storyline and while the presentation was rich, the narrative was just alright. The dialogues were decent. The script was written well but the screenplay was just okay. Background score was good and three songs were hummable. Cinematography was top notch. Locations were mesmerizing. Editing was matured but it was required during the second half. Costumes were natural and stylish while the art department was royal and deserves applause. Suriya has given a riveting performance in both roles and he scores the brownie points. Shruti Haasan looks naturally seductive and even her performance is good. Johnny was excellent, he was worth a watch. Avinash was apt. Dhanya was decent, Ashwin was average, Raghavendra was regular, Abhinaya was brief. The others didn't have much scope.

Conclusion:
The film is one of those rare subjects which requires strong conviction in the idea and courage to connect the audience with it. While the first half goes off smoothly, the second half gets a bit twisted. The film suffers primarily due to its lack of pace and energy. Moreover, the concept was wonderful but it was not developed into a proper story. Overall, this is a film which must be watched for its message and the technical values. At the box office, the openings will be strong but expecting a bumper hit from it is not wise.

Bharatstudent verdict: Watch it for the concept!!
